Embracing Life

Embracing Life is a cancer support and advocacy group for African American women.  It began out of concern for the high rates of cancer occurrences and deaths in the African American community.

The women of Embracing Life have survived cancer.  They lend their hands, ears and hearts to those who are undergoing the treatment of cancer because they have been there and they know.

They provide encouragement and support to cancer patients.  They meet in a warm, sharing environment which is sensitive to survivors’ cultural, physical, psychosocial and economic concerns.  They link African American cancer survivors to one another and to resources and services.  They take positive action to educate the African American community about cancer.

Hope deffered maketh the hearth sick, but when desire cometh, it is a tree of life  Proverbs 13 verse 12
